The Chinese company said that German automaker <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-2\">Volkswagen<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> will be its first client as Xpeng opens the system to other car makers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the company&#8217;s &#8220;AI Day,&#8221; Xpeng CEO Xiaopeng He claimed the new driver-assist system \u2014 which builds on Xpeng&#8217;s existing systems for assisting drivers with parking, driving on highways and navigating city roads \u2014 required less human intervention than Tesla&#8217;s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, and completed a test route several minutes quicker.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Next month I will go to the U.S. to compare [Xpeng&#8217;s latest system] to FSD again,&#8221; He said in Mandarin, translated by CNBC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-108220923\">\n<div role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" id=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-108220923\" class=\"PlaceHolder-wrapper\" data-vilynx-id=\"7000394397\" data-test=\"VideoPlaceHolder\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-videoEmbed\" id=\"InlineVideo-0\" data-test=\"InlineVideo\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-inlineThumbnailContainer\"><span class=\"InlineVideo-videoButton\"\/><span\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>The new model is also able to respond to traffic controllers&#8217; hand gestures, as well as to traffic light countdowns from red to green, the company said. <\/p>\n<p>Tesla has struggled to get Beijing&#8217;s approval to roll out FSD in mainland China.
